DEAN IS AWESOME! I haven't loved a character like him on television in over ten years. He's flawed, he's a horndog, he loves his family unconditionally, he IS a hero and rarely if ever gets thanked for it, he loves kids, he's a BADASS with a gun and rocksalt...I could go on and on about what an amazing man Dean Winchester is, and for him to keep getting bashed on is beyond ridiculous.

So thanks for this, for letting me gush a bit. :-)

DEAN WINCHESTER = ♥

Never has any other character (or person for that matter) so perfectly illustrated how it is our flaws that make us beautiful.

I wish I could do fucked up with half as much grace.

I wish I could be as content with as little.

I wish I could be as trusting with as little reason to believe.

I'd have driven off into the sunset and lost all my contact numbers ages ago.

I found this through the newsletter. Yayyyy for this post!

I stumbled across a bit of Dean!hate after the last episode, and it made me super-sad. I love both the brothers, a lot, although I kiiind of have an extra soft spot for Dean - I run a Dean-focused comm, haha.

[livejournal.com profile] hoodie_time is currently hosting a Dean-focused h/c comment fic-meme (http://community.livejournal.com/hoodie_time/119369.html), which I'm linking since a lot of the fics there involve people hugging Dean. ;D

I actually just closed up the post for leaving new prompts, but new comment-fics are still coming in all the time if anyone is interested in that kind of fic.

I adore Dean.

I feel like I should have more to say or be more eloquent or something, but I just think he's a beautiful character inside and out. He's more interesting and complicated than anyone else on TV.

The haters may moan and complain and bitch about every little thing he does. But they're still talking almost exclusively about him. That pretty much tells me everything I need to know about the success of this character.

Thanks for hosting this love meme. I've been kinda bummed all day reading some of the crap that's being spewed about him right now on LJ.

Here via [livejournal.com profile] jellicle. I love Dean because for him, family is everything. And despite everybody leaving him again and again, he kept on trying to keep them all together and protect them - until he just couldn't anymore. And for that, I want to hug him and cuddle him and squish him silly.

when I ran into / and started watching SPN as a regular with season 1 "Phantom Traveler", it was Dean who got to me right from start. I had no idea about the show at that time, but still, he managed to make his way into my heard the second I started watching SPN. And until today Dean is my all time favorite, out of all characters and TV shows. And I have a lot of favorite shows.

I can`t say what made me feel for him from start, but I love him for all he is, for all he`s done, ot didn`t do. Until today. If anything, my love for him grows each day.

he makes me smile, he makes me shake my head going *headdesk*, he makes me wanna smack him upside the head at times, he makes me laugh in tears, he makes me cry like a baby, he leaves me behind in pieces at times.

He`s the character that inspieres me the most when it comes with fanart. Even when I try to do something for someone else, I always end up with Dean, always Dean.

Last, THANK YOU for this meme. I don`t comment on something like this often, but this time I just had to.

It's jealousy, I tell ya. Dean is The MAN! on Supernatural-everybody knows it, but SOME people just don't like it and when they see an opening to bash him they will. Doesn't change things, though-Dean will ALWAYS be The MAN! of Supernatural because of Jensen-and it doesn't matter that right now he works on a small, over-looked, teen-obsessed network-he is still one of the finest actors to ever grace any screen. And critics and people-in-the-know, know it. So fear not, the temporary and envious fanbashing(and it's not everywhere, it just seems that way-honest)will pass, but I like to always sing him praises where ever I go, and in the best words I can find(and bringing the story into things is best, because the story supports Dean in ways that it could never support Sam-again something SOME people don't like, but you can't change the script) cuz awesome words, strung together well, get to people and stay in their brains, ya know?-and most importantly, irritate the batshit crazy bashers like nothin' else. This was a great idea, BTW.
:-) And MUCH LOVE! for the tat, Stir of Echoes. If I wasn't married... ;-)

Found this through the [livejournal.com profile] spnnewsletter comm. Hope you don't mind if I comment.

Here's the thing: I kinda had this weird Dean dislike [can never hate him] these past couple episodes. He pitied himself too much, I told myself. He whines about his problems too much even though [Sam/Castiel/Bobby/Everyone Else] have worse problems. I've seen everyone else complain about him whining about his sad, sad life, but then I came to realize that hey, he never whined half as much as people say he did. He's only been doing it for the past couple episodes because he has been so broken by what has happened to him. He has tried to be so strong for his family, taking most of the brunt of Sam's selfishness [not that I have a dislike for Sam, but that's not the question] earlier before realizing his fate. Dean's way of being selfish is by being selfless. The wisecracking, womanizing Dean? That's the defense mechanism talking. He had to have a front for all that he's suffered throughout his life. Is it his fault that he's had to take so much in? If it were any sane human being, he/she would've tried to kill him/herself, before even discovering the whole Michael/Angels bullshit. The beauty of Dean is that he's stronger than any character on the show, despite lacking supernatural power that the rest of Team Free Will possess. Another thing I love is that Dean is smart. It's not portrayed often - Dean's having dropped out [?] resulted in the fan/canon coming to the conclusion that Dean = dumb which is. No. Just no. He has killer instinct for all things... well, supernatural. He was actually one step ahead of Sam sometimes. He... uh, read Chuck Pahlaniuk. I dunno, the show provides many examples of his understated intelligence, but does not dwell on it. Well.

Maybe the most important reason why I got drawn into Dean was because he was a lot like me. And a lot like you. He was, quite undoubtedly, the most human of all the characters in the show. He faces the moral dilemma of having to choose, the struggle of blind/passive obedience vs. active participation/rebellion, being a good brother vs. being a good son... the list goes on. He has loved more than any character in this show, and it shows just how much he's hurt by giving so much. He does it anyway. He's got his flaws: the self-esteem issue, the words he's probably said on occasion, being driven by emotions sometimes [to a fault], yet - hasn't everyone experienced any of these things at least once? Does it make Dean less of an awesome charcater if he fails at being perfect and goes on being human? Because see, despite these weaknesses that I presented, he's more than made up for it by his strengths, his determination. And, you argue, if he were so strong, would he have played with the possible choice of saying "Yes" to Michael? YES! He has been wrung like a sponge, with nothing more to give because the world expects and expects and he cannot fight back. This will be his time of weakness, but when he's got himself sharpened (and that is why I believe that Castiel beating him up will be good for him), he'll come out the best pencil of them all, leaving a mark more lasting than any of them haters ever can.

And it's 2am and I'm incoherent, so I apologize for the possible bull/TL;DR of this.

"He whines about his problems too much even though [Sam/Castiel/Bobby/Everyone Else] have worse problems."

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you but how are those other people's problems worse than Dean's?

I hate it when I wrongly-phrase stuff

I meant to say "[Sam/Castiel/Bobby/Everyone Else] MAY have worse problems [which we don't actually know too much and cannot be a judge of, so it's not fair to judge Dean either]."

Thanks for pointing that out. Also - ugh I will NEVER write at 2AM again.

I love Dean so much! He is a flawed hero and an amazing person, who has suffered a lot in his life, others in his place would blow their brains out years ago or end up in a loony bin.

It breaks my heart that he thinks so little of himself and is constantly giving/sacrificing himself for others.

When he loves, he puts all of his heart into it, same goes with saving people.

I love Dean completely angsty issues and all. The 'Dean's being whiny' comments I never really understand because given how much he's been through in comparison to the rest of them (sorry but 40 years in hell trumps everything) he doesn't really moan about it that much.

Dean is a GOD DAMN HERO! He may be flawed, but it only makes me love him even more, because it makes him more human and relatable. I wouldn't know where to start with how much I love this character, but that just shows that his epicness goes beyond words. There's just not enough words to explain how amazing he is!

I don't care what people say, he'll still be our hero by the end of this season!

I love Dean, I watch the show from his point of view, I rationalize his decisions and feel like I understand what he must be going through and I've NEVER felt so attached to a tv character. I think the angst on top of angst is wearing the viewers down just as much as Dean so that's why he's taking a beating from fandom too (even from Deanlovers) Usually Supernatural is good at balancing out the angst, action and humour but it's all a bit hard to watch at the moment.(It's good but it's also draining) I'm too wrapped up in Dean's journey to give up on Supernatural though and I'm hoping they are taking him to his lowest point only to build him back stronger then ever and he plays a big part in saving the world, anything less will be an injustice to my favourite character.

I love Dean to bits he's a wonderfully complex and emotional characeter.

Perfect characeters are boring so I'll take Dean as is, flaws and all. He's been to hell and back, had a father that did a hell of a job on him emotionally, now litrally has the weight of the world on his shoulders, with everything thats been thrown at him who the hell could blame him for how he's feeling. Issues, angst, broken, flawed, weary, but he's always been a hero who sacrifices everything for others, its what makes Dean, Dean. I'll never stop loving him no matter what.
